Personal safety awareness
A 3 Hour course designed to reduce the risk of you becoming a victim of crime
This personal safety course is designed to heighten awareness of what you should consider in order to keep yourself safe in today’s uncertain world. Anger, aggression and violence are all too common and being able to manage your personal reaction to confrontation is vital. Even better is having the awareness to avoid such situations in the first place. This course is suitable to men and women of all ages and backgrounds, and it is especially suitable to those children and teenagers leaving home for the first time to go to university or those taking a gap year to go travelling abroad.
Why is this Course important for me?
Unfortunately today, the risk of becoming a victim of crime is still on the increase. For example,
There were about 583,000 incidents of violence at according to the 2013-2014 Crime Survey for England and Wales. There were more than 16,000 cautions or sentences handed out for knife crimes between April 2014 and March 2015 – around forty-five crimes a day.
The reality is the police force does not have the strength in numbers that it used to have. It has lost 70,000 posts over ten years and endured twenty-five percent budget cuts.
Britain’s most senior policewoman, Sara Thornton, Head of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, told the BBC, in July 2015,
“We cannot do everything…The cuts are so significant, we are going to have so few officers that the public’s expectations are going to have to change.”
